WORKS:
Emigrant, 2012
Composition made for performance with Vaia Ougiarou in Stavros Panagiotakis exhibition at Bey Hamam.
Speech & Silence, 2011
Composition of sound environment for performance theater "Speech & Silence" directed by Yiannis Paraskevopoulos. Based on Constantine Cavafy's text "In the light of day".
teatime, 2011
Sound Design for performance teatime.
Directed by Vaia Ougiarou & video by Stavros Panagiotakis. Based on Bertolt Brecht’s poem “reading the paper while brewing the tea”
four points of waves, 2011, 4ch
Sound installation in a room of Villa Kapantzi, Cultural Centre of MIET.
drones, 2011
The idea behind this composition was the drone music scene and how can be expanded by using techniques from electroacoustic music composition. I didn’t try to mimic the “style” of this music but to transform it and expand it.
morfima & tomi, 2010
The original idea of this composition came from the sounds of insects such as a listener perceives them in a natural soundscape. There wasn't an attempt to imitate such a soundscape, just to gather some spectro-morphologic and aesthetic characteristics and use them as the base for an intuitive artistic expression.
metallaxis, 2009, 8ch
In “metallaxis” I tried to give the impression of a journey which goes by various stages, where their identification is made through the sound and specifically through the spectromorphological characteristics of each sound, the perception that the sound is inside a space and the movement of each sound inside each space. Some composed spaces give the feeling of levitation, which is impossible to experience it in a natural environment because of gravity. Other spaces are more realistic, while others cannot be described because they are not respond to an auditory experience in the real world. This sonic journey is following some swinging stages. These stages cannot always be easily distinct and more often the transition from one stage to another, cannot be immediately understand by the listener. The steps that are followed, are starting with something more material and real and resulting in something intangible and imaginary. Source of inspiration was the symbolic parallelism of these stages with the four elements of nature: earth, water, air and fire. The project was structured in this series, but not directly related to the corresponding sounds that create these materials, but with a more abstract, symbolic and artistic look. The original composition was made for 8 loudspeakers.
This composition was made in the studio lab of Music Interaction & Polyphony in Crete’s TEI department of Music Technology & Acoustics. The original version was composed for 8 channel circular loudspeaker setup, as part of the thesis for the graduate program.
Traveling in spacetime, 2008
Central axis for the creation of this composition was a dream for a future. A trip in space and time, in a likely intellectual and cultural rebirth, 300 years afterwards, in the city of Rethimno. Musically, in this composition the spectro-morphological characteristics were selected at the duration of composition and constituted a way for the exploration of new ways in the structure of musical piece. Was given particular attention in the continuous internal movement of rhythm and spectrum with way so that it becomes more natural in listener. Part A, was named also as “Tape#24-Rithy2350”.
elati, 2007
Elati was a deeper exploration inside music composition as an expression of my inner self. Each one of the five compositions is a sound story. The name elati is referring to a mountain in Central Greece which I had an experience which was the start for an inner esoteric exploration which expressed in electroacoustic tape music compositions. All the compositions were made in the autumn, winter and spring of 2007 on Crete island. Part C & D were made in small travels in Thesssaloniki city, in the north of Greece.
The names of the parts which are firstly used are different. Except part C & D the alternate names was:
part A: elati
part B: Various Unknown Tales
part E: Metropolis
part F: kurukshetra
abstract-concrete, 2006
Abstract is a reference in aesthetics of the sounds, the form and the structure progression. The Concrete is a reference in the techniques that I used which are related to the musique concrete techniques. Recording physical objects and soundscapes, but manipulating them with algorithms from GRM-tools and some self programmed algorithms in Reaktor and MaxMSP.
hrznhue, 2005
In this group of compositions I experimented with more musique concrete techniques, using sound recordings of soundscapes & objects, but still using many synthesized sounds. The synthesized sounds and the editing of recorded sounds were made with GRM-tools and some self programmed algorithms in Reaktor & Csound.
dreaming sphere, 2004
My first exploration in experimental electronic music, influenced by glitch music, microsound, ambient & electroacoustic composition. Source of inspiration was my experiments in sound synthesis programming with NI Reaktor. The purpose was to create a “dreaming” atmosphere. As “dreaming” i refer to the state of mind between awakening and sleeping.
